| Typical Applications | ||
|
Machines
that operates in hostile environments or those excessively prone to wear
build-up dangerous vibration levels. These damaging vibrations need to
be immediately spotted, analysed and corrected. Failure to do so will
render the machine useless or result in severe maintenance costs.
Typical Examples of these machines are blowers, compressors, air
cleaners, turbines, centrifuges and pumps. |

Vibration
Velocity Transducers |
||
![]() |
Schenck
velocity transducers are capable of accurately picking up absolute
bearing vibrations of machines in the range of 1.0 to 2000Hz. The transducer's operation is based on the Electro-dynamic principal. A voltage that is proportional to the vibratory velocity is being induced in a coil that moves in the field of a permanent magnet. The coil is suspended, free of any friction, on two leaf springs and forms together with these springs a spring-mass system. |
|
|
If
the transducer is held or fastened to an oscillating component, the coil
will remain stationary in space at frequencies above the natural
frequency to the spring-mass system. Depending on the model, the natural frequency of the transducers is near 8 or 15 Hz. The use of electronics frequency response linearization allows the measurement of absolute vibration with high accuracy below the natural frequency of the transducer. Most of Schenk's vibrations measuring instruments and machine monitoring systems have built-in frequency response linearization. Schenck velocity transducers are exceedingly rugged, they are oil and water proof. The high quality stainless steel housing allows continued use in chemically aggressive atmosphere. |
